Alturas is a small city in northeast California, located at the junction of US-395 and CA-299 in Modoc County, about 150 miles north of Reno, Nevada. With a population of 2,715 (2020 census), it is the county seat, the largest community in Modoc County, and serves as the commercial hub and gateway for exploring Northeast California's wilderness areas.
